The zeppelin bend (or Rosendahl’s knot) can be loaded
before the knot is tightened because it will form into its
proper shape and function when loaded. This can be a
great advantage should a boat being moored drift away
before the knot is finished. As with many knots, there is
more than one way to tie a zeppelin bend. This method
is old and considered by many to be easier. This knot can
also be used by campers or by anyone wishing to bend
two ropes.
