REMEMBRANCE AND GRATITUDE

The Late Dr Lawrence Leong, Executive Director and Commissioner of Parks and Recreation
NYAA was deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Lawrence Leong, Executive Director of the National Parks,
Gardens & Nature Reserves Cluster and Commissioner of Parks & Recreation.

Dr Leong was a long-time collaborator and staunch supporter of NYAA’s youth development programmes,
working closely with NYAA for over 25 years on numerous nature conservation projects. His contributions to
Singapore’s green spaces and his dedication to youth leadership will be greatly missed.

The late Mr Mohamad Maidin Bin Packer
NYAA mourned the passing of Mr Mohamad Maidin Bin Packer, former Senior Parliamentary Secretary for
Home Affairs and the Environment. Mr Maidin supported NYAA’s Youth and the Environment programme and
was a respected leader in the Malay/Muslim community. His contributions to the nation and his unwavering
support for youth development will be fondly remembered. His passing is a great loss, and his legacy of
service and leadership will continue to inspire.

The Late Emeritus Archbishop Nicholas Chia
Emeritus Archbishop Nicholas Chia passed away on 17 December 2024. The Executive Director and Deputy
Executive Director attended his wake at the Church of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd on Queens Street.

NYAA remains grateful to the late Archbishop for his past support of NYAA’s community development project
in Timor Leste. His legacy of compassion and service is fondly remembered.
