NYAA Advisory Board Meeting
The NYAA Advisory Board Meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, was held on 20 March
2024 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. The Executive Director briefed the board on the organisation’s
strategic shift towards focusing on the impact of its programmes rather than merely the number of participants.
The NYAA Junior Programme continues to grow steadily, with more primary schools joining. The board also
discussed ways to support the Forward Singapore initiative. The ED will collaborate with the NYAA Gold Award
Holders’ Alumni (GAHA), particularly those involved in the SG100 initiative led by Dr Charles Phua, an NYAA
Gold Award holder.

Appointment of NYAA Chairman, Board of Trustees
On 20 March 2024, Mr Wong Kee Joo, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Singapore, was appointed Chairman of
the NYAA Board of Trustees by the Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies,
and Chairman of the NYAA Advisory Board, Mr Heng Swee Keat, in a ceremony witnessed by members of the
NYAA Advisory Board.

Mr Wong expressed his humility and privilege in accepting the Chairmanship, emphasising his commitment
to continuing the excellent work of his predecessor. Deputy Prime Minister Heng thanked Mr Wong for his
dedication and support in addressing the critical issue of climate change and providing young people with
opportunities and platforms to become catalysts for change in this challenging global environment.
