My Appreciation
Thank you for taking the time to read My Journey up the Hill, which is the story of
my life. Quite frankly, there are many parts of my story that I am certainly not
proud of – that I would rather forget. However, there are also instances of amazing
grace for which I am extremely thankful. I decided to tell my story not only for my
own healing from a difficult past but also to help bring comfort to those who may
have experienced similar events. I write to identify the pain of mental, physical,
emotional and sexual abuse along with abandonment, rejection, and fear. Wounds
of the past have lasted a lifetime affecting my personality, emotions, and feelings.
A key to my healing is finding my voice, which I never had as a small boy.
Hopefully, this will provide courage and hope for others to find their voice.
This book is not intended to accuse, vilify, or point fingers at anyone. However,
beginning my life knowing I was not wanted has created struggles of hurt in my
heart and mind. Sharing bits and pieces of my life has been personally impacting,
and to be honest with you, it certainly carries some risk. The truth is not always
pretty and has established questions as to what my intentions were along the way.
My purpose was to find overall happiness, and that has been accomplished. I have
not died with the music in me; I have told my story; I have sung my song.
