Complete another three rounds of tucks and taper again, this time by cutting
one strand from each pair. Retape the ends.
Complete three more rounds of tucks with the three single strands. Then draw
up the strand as you would a loose shoelace, until the pieces of the rope lay
together but are not overly tight or loose.
Tape the ends, leaving a tail about 1½ inches (38 mm) long.
