To end the whipping, insert the working end of the small stuff through the
loop. Pull on the bitter end, or tail, of the small stuff until the loop slides
completely out of sight. Clip the ends close.

TOOLS & MATERIALS
Rope to be whipped
Small stuff: waxed whipping twine
Sailmaker’s needle
Take two stitches through the rope with the small stuff to secure its end. Then
wrap the small stuff around the rope, working back over the stitches, until the
width of the whipping approximates the diameter of the rope.
Draw the working end of the small stuff under the entire length of the
whipping and pull it through.
