Begin with a convenient strand pair and tuck it under a nearby strand pair in
the standing part of the rope.
Repeat with the five remaining pairs, making each tuck parallel with the one
adjacent.
Complete two more rounds of tucks with each strand passing over one pair in
the standing part before tucking under the next pair. Then begin tapering by
trimming every other strand pair about 1½ inches (38 mm) from the standing
part of the rope.
Complete another three rounds of tucks with the remaining strand pairs; then
taper again, this time by cutting one strand from each pair. Retape the ends.
After another three rounds of tucks, draw up the three single strands tightly.
