TWELVE
Twelve-Plait Rope

Constructed of nylon or polyester, this rope is used primarily on commercial

boats for hawsers, docklines, and towlines. There is no need to coil twelve-plait;
you can drop it in a heap and then just give it one or two good shakes to rid it of
hockles and kinks.

EYE SPLICE

This splice can be completed with your fingers, but a fid will do a neater
job.
