prevent movement of the rope over the chain. Seal the strands by melting them

with a match or hot knife. Applying a coat of liquid rope sealer would be a plus.
As a final touch, serve the entire splice tightly with small stuff (see chapter 14)
to further ensure that the strands do not chafe.
