Girth hitch
This is a simple knot, which is used when a line must be secured so that equal weight is carried
by both emerging lines. It is often tied using a fixed loop of rope, webbing, or a flat strap.
Simply pass a bight from the middle of your line behind a post or branch (1). Then feed the
standing parts through the bight (2). Pull on the standing parts to secure the knot (3).
