Albright knot

The Albright is used to tie a small monofilament leader to a larger-diameter fishing or fly-

casting line. It is effective even when attaching monofilament to nylon-coated wire, because it
grips very tightly. As with most fishing knots, you should not bother to untie it from
monofilament line, but simply clip the knot off and retie.

Take a bight in the larger-diameter line, then run the smaller line through it (1). Begin wrapping

the working end of the smaller line around the bend and the standing end (2). Continue for many
wraps—at least six. Feed the working end around the standing part and through the end of the
bight in the larger line (3). Then pull the working end and cinch the wraps so that they lie perfectly
alongside one another (4). Moisten and pull tight along the standing ends (5). Trim the excess off
the smaller line to finish (6).
