EXCEPT FOR FAMILY?

It’s been about 25 years now since I had
a conversation with my then pastor about an
incident that required that I be true to God’s
Word and take a stand as a Christian on a
clearly biblical principle. I can’t even remember
the exact principle at this time, but it involved
an incident with my unsaved step-father and
my mother. The pastor was very supportive of
my desire to be obedient to God’s Word and
take the difficult stand that I had decided to
take, and he encouraged me to do so — until
I told him that those involved in the incident
were family members. I still remember his
effort to “back pedal” on his support, and his
“change of tune” and sheepish demeanor still
