defiance of God and His Word.
When I was a new Christian, there was a
slogan that was popular at that time that
said, “Love is never having to say you’re
sorry.” But God, who is the epitome of love,
requires that a person be sorry for sin before
He forgives that person and before
fellowship with God is restored, and that
principle should carry over into our
relationships with people. Psalm 34:18 says,
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a
broken heart; and saveth such as be of a
contrite spirit,” and David said in Psalm
38:18, “For I will declare mine iniquity; I will
be sorry for my sin.” God never extends His
mercy to an unrepentant heart, nor will He
