“The National Disabilities Commission has a strategic role as an independent and nonstructural
institution that answers directly to the President,” he said, adding that he hoped it could speed
up government programs for people with disabilities.
The Social Affairs Ministry has also responded to the groups’ concerns, saying that it did not
interfere in any of the commission’s functions.
