assistance. District personnel enter a technology/maintenance repair request directly into the TaTrack
system.
The Technology Department has systems tech personnel assigned to each school and central office to
perform routine maintenance/service on technology equipment and to clear trouble tickets from the
TaTrack system.
Routine maintenance of equipment and software updates, etc., are performed throughout the school year
and during non-school times, as required. The Technology Department utilizes various software
applications such as JAMF and Lightspeed to push out updates/revisions, etc., to district computers,
operating systems, etc.
DISPOSAL OF EQUIPMENT (F6, F7, F8)
Hinds County School District maintains and follows policies and procedures for disposal of all equipment
purchased with state and/or Federal funds that are aligned with state and Federal laws and regulations
regarding disposal of equipment. Inventory/Disposal of Obsolete Equipment/Equipment Identification
and Accountability - Inventory Section of this manual), provides procedures for disposal of equipment,
including equipment having a fair market value of >$5,000.
Note: The Office of State and Federal Programs does not make purchases of equipment valued above
$5,000. However, should federally-purchased equipment for disposal have a fair market value greater
than $5,000, the District will follow the Federal regulations and consult with the Mississippi Department
of Education for any additional guidance, if needed.
EQUIPMENT ESSENTIAL/BENEFICIAL TO PROGRAM (F9)
The Directors of Federal Programs (DoFP) are responsible for the approval, purchasing, tagging,
monitoring of use, and the final disposal of all federally purchased equipment and supplies. Periodic
reviews of equipment and materials’ use is accomplished through meetings with school personnel,
observations of equipment and materials placement and use throughout the school, and the conducting of
physical inventories.
2 CFR 200.313 (c)(1), states that the district may continue to use equipment in the program or project for
which it was acquired as long as needed, whether or not the project or program continues to be supported
by Federal funds. Should this situation occur, the DoFP are responsible for the oversight and subsequent
use of the equipment which may include transfer of the equipment to another Title I program/school, or
then to another Federal entity in the district.
INDIRECT COST – I1
An indirect cost is a cost that is incurred for the benefit of the entire organization. Hinds County School
District ensures that indirect costs are only charged at the correct indirect cost rate.
Calculation and Payment – Title I
The indirect cost maximum is automatically calculated in MCAPS for the current funding year. The FPD
ensures that this amount is not exceeded during any funding year by performing the following
calculations prior to payment of indirect costs. At the completion of the school district fiscal year, June

30 , the FPD will calculate the indirect payment owed to the district as follows:
1. Calculate the actual amount of capital outlay expended during the fiscal year from current funding
year and the carryover funding year. (Total expenditures for object codes 700)
