Gram lentil soup
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons oil
2 cloves garlic - finely chopped
1 large onion - finely chopped
500g yellow grams lentils (or other)
1 tablespoon cumin powder
salt to taste
1 litre water
Method:
1. Soak lentils for 10-12 minutes in water
2. Heat oil in a pan, and sauté garlic and onion for a few minutes until onion
becomes soft and light brown.
3. Add cumin powder and salt and mix well.
4. Add lentils and cook for a few minutes.
5. Add water, cover pan and simmer about 30mins until lentils are cooked.
6. Serve with warm fresh roti (page 22)
