3) Prematue Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation (PE) is the most common sexual medical condition, affecting up to one in five Irish men
at some stage in their lives.
Priligy tablets (Dapoxetine) are for the treatment of PE in men aged 18 to 64 years and work by delaying
ejaculation and increasing control.
Guidelines on prescribing for this condition:

Approximately one in three men report a significant response to Priligy. For men with an average time to
ejaculation of 1 minute, the time to ejaculation usually increases to approx. 3.1 minutes with a 30mg dose, and
3.6 minutes with a 60mg dose. There is however an increase in side effect risk with the higher dose.
The prescribing doctor should check the patient safety questionnaire and ensure there are no side effects to the
medication. The patient will indicate the dose they require at the end of the questionnaire.
Once a doctor is satisfied the patient has no contraindication to the medication a prescription can be issued.
4) Acne
Acne is very common in Ireland and moderate to severe acne can affect up to 20% of adolescents. It can be both
physically and psychologically distressing.
Acne vulgaris is a disorder of the pilosebaceous follicles found in the face and upper trunk. At puberty androgens
increase the production of sebum from enlarged sebaceous glands that become blocked. Propionibacterium
acnes is involved in lesion production although its exact role is unclear. It is a skin organism but in acne it
colonizes the follicles.
