MORE THAN CONQUERORS

""You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the
     world." – 1 John 4:4 (NIV)

As I sit down to share this month’s devotional, I can’t help but think about a recent experience that has touched me deeply.
At the Belleville Pregnancy and Family Care Centre, where I work as the Client Service Director, we recently had a group of
intercessors come in to pray for our team, our clients, and our ministry. Their willingness to pray for us was a humbling
reminder of God’s faithfulness and the support we have in our mission.
When it was time for them to pray for me, one of the intercessors felt led to share a specific verse: "Because the one who is
in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).
At that moment, I wasn’t completely sure what this verse meant for my life, but I felt its importance. Over the past month, it
has repeatedly appeared in my life, making it impossible to overlook. Just today, while praying for my son’s upcoming
wedding, a co-worker mentioned this very verse, reminding me once again of its strength and significance. I find it
comforting how God can bring certain messages to us right when we need them, offering reassurance and a sense of
connection as we navigate significant moments in our lives.
     Embracing Our Identity
But 1 John 4:4 is more than a comforting thought; it’s a declaration of identity and victory. It reminds us that, as believers,
we are children of God, embraced by His love and grace. This identity carries profound implications for how we navigate
the ups and downs of life. We aren’t just getting by; we are overcomers because of Jesus’s sacrifice on our behalf.
     Surrendering Our Burdens
In my journey over the past few months, I’ve been striving to practice surrendering my burdens and worries to God more
completely. I’ve found that when challenges arise, my initial reaction is often one of frustration and confusion. I catch
myself crying out, "Why me, Lord?" or thinking, "I do NOT want to deal with this!" Yet, in these moments of distress, I have
learned to pause and listen. Suddenly, a wiser, calmer voice emerges within me, saying, "Tracy, relax... just take a breath..."
This gentle reminder feels transformative. It’s as if a "new me" takes over, guiding me toward a clearer perspective. When I
embrace this calmness, I find the strength to face whatever may be needed in that situation.
In those moments of surrender, I’ve discovered the beauty of releasing control and allowing God to take the lead. It’s not
always easy; our human nature often clings to the need for certainty and control. Yet, in opening my hands and heart, I’ve
experienced a profound shift. The burdens that once felt overwhelming begin to lighten, and I find myself standing on a
foundation of hope rather than despair.
     Living in Victory
The realization that "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" has sparked a deeper understanding
of living in victory. Every challenge, every trial, and every uncertainty can be faced with the confidence that we are not
alone. The God who created the universe resides within us, empowering us to overcome our circumstances. This truth
invites us to approach life not as victims but as victors, equipped with divine strength.
     Sharing Our Stories
Thinking about this message, I realize how vital it is for us to share our stories with each other. We all have struggles—some
obvious and others that we keep to ourselves. There are times when we feel beaten down or overwhelmed. But when we
talk about how God has helped us through tough times, we can inspire each other to see ourselves as strong and capable.
Our stories can offer real hope, lighting the way for those who might be feeling lost or alone.
