managerial skills
When it comes to working in an
organisation, freshers are often at a
loss as they are required to make use
of their specialised skills (medicine,
engineering etc.) as well as effectively
carry out their role as a manager,
team leader or CEO.
To fulfil this need for their growth,
they apply for part time MBA from reputed institutes in the hope that it will
help them realise their dream of following up the organisational hierarchy. But
according to Drew Houston,
Reading a book about management isn’t going to make you a good manager
any more than a book about guitar will make you a good guitarist, but it
can get you thinking about the most important concepts.
An effective manager is made from learning, adapting and practising their
knowledge in real environment. Some people have innate leadership qualities that
help them get acceptance amongst their co-workers and even seniors. However,
these skills are not unique and therefore can be acquired by any person capable
of putting in the efforts and dedication towards these goals.
The value of any business management is measured by the performance.
The beginner’s guide to management is obviously through gaining a first hand
experience at leading a group of people towards achieving the set performance
in a limited amount of time.
Students can learn these managerial skills at any stage of their lives by leading a
group of individuals to achieve the completion of an assigned project at a small level.
However, managing is much more than leadership. Managing is not as easy
as it seems at first glance. Of all the workers, it is the manager who holds the
actual vision regarding what is to be achieved next and how. It is the job of the
