REFLECTION
In today’s world, we have used technology for a
lot of things. The world depends on technology
and everyone from the young to the old seem to
be deeply involved. It has become one of the
most important elements in today’s societies and towards technology-savvy communication
its role in our lives keep getting complex. It has
also impacted all sectors of the society and even
helped to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
In education, we have seen an increase in
technology development that assist the process
of learning and teaching. Based on the article,
there are a lot of improvements and innovation
as a result of implementing technology in
education in the UK. As we can see, a lot of
schools have made technology as one of tools in
teaching and learning and became a great part of
the institution. In Malaysia, almost all the
schools use technology in their learning process.
Though some only use it occasionally depending
on the availability to access the limited tools in
their school. One of the usages of technology in
the classroom in our country include the
projector and computers. Mobile devices are
also considered as using technology in class.
With access to internet, students now can
achieve more by using the devices to access
information at their fingertips. Teachers should
encourage them to use their mobile devices in
classroom with the teacher’s supervision and
guidance. It can expand the students’ knowledge
and build a stronger teachers’ rapports with the
students.
The current technological development
requires the fresh graduate students to be
technology literate as it is considered one
of the qualities a good employee should
have does not matter what job they are
applying. Technology skills the chief
executive of Yayasan Peneraju, Raja Azura
Raja Mahayuddin said that employers’
expectations of employees have moved
skills, which in turn, require tertiary
institutions to impart such abilities to
students. It has become one of the
importance requirements to get the
students to get used in using technology in
their classroom. It can produce more
technology-skilled students which can help
them in their career in the future. Luckily, I
was selected to be one if the students in
UiTM which has facilitate us in a
technology environment that has not be an
alien to us. Recently, our lecturers have
came up with a Google classroom account
to keep us updated about the current
courses. We can submit our homework,
quizzes, and share our thoughts and
opinions with the rest of the class. It has
been a great platform to encourage
students’ cooperation and coloration skills.
Although the young generation nowadays
are exposed to technology since they were
young, that is a different matter for the
adults. There is a clear generation gap
between the students and teachers. In fact,
some of the teachers feels that it is difficult
to use technology, let alone encouraging
students to use them in the classroom.
