Poetry Elocution
23rd November 2016
Year 3
Poetry recitation is literary work where ideas and feelings, accentuated
with the use of distinctive style and rhythm is delivered through a public
speaking activity with a focus on rhythm, alliteration some repetitions. Poetry
as an art breaks across grammar and syntax to create something new and
imaginative for the children. It provides an adventure for the mind.
Three weeks ago, Ms. Sharine sent message to all the class teachers to
select a poem with a humorous theme. Each class teacher submitted the title
they chose and practiced the students in class. They decided which costume to
wear and also the styles and actions they have to do while reciting their poem.
The program started at 11:30, All sections of grade 3 were gathered in the
MPH for the competition. Everybody was excited about the event. The
behaviour was controlled very well leaded by Ma’am Norma. Ma’am Baljit
was the judge of the competition. The host of the program were Oluwajuwonlo
Kelvin Akande and Ada Mikhail Canonoy Torres trained by Ms. Sharine. The
poem recitation went very good as the 3-A started reciting their piece followed
by the next 9 more sections. Each section did their best reciting their own piece.
