A Special Tribute to MasTec Veterans
MasTec is proud to employ military veterans and each year publishes a special tribute to thank them for their sacrifice. As part of the tribute, we profile a famous war memorial, and list the names of all the veterans that work at MasTec. The honor roll of our veterans starts on page 6.
Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial Colleville-sur-mer, France
The Normandy American Cemetery is a memorial that honors American troops that died in Europe during World War II. A total of 9,387 soldiers are buried there, including 307 unknown and 3 women. The cemetery is located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach, where the famous Normandy Invasion, also known as D-Day, took place, and covers 172 acres. Among the burials at the cemetery are three recipients of the Medal of Honor, including Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., son of President Theodore Roosevelt. Another son of President Roosevelt’s, Quentin, who was killed in World War I, was exhumed and reburied at Normandy next to his brother Theodore, Jr.
