AIRSTREAM™ SERIES DRYER

                       Electrical Overview

                       Pro Airstream™ Dryer
                          Photo Electric Eyes
The Pro Airstream™ Dryer employs through-beam photo eye technology. With through-beam
technology, an infrared beam source is generated by an emitter. This infrared source is transmitted
through the air to a receiver. The receivers acknowledge the reception of the infrared beam, amplify it
and process it into an electrical signal understood by the Programmable Logic Controller. When nothing
obstructs the path between the emitter beam and the receiver, the photo eye receiver outputs 0V to the
input of the Programmable Logic Controller.
Photo eyes are grouped in pairs (emitters and receivers) arranged on a “T” shaped beam called a “Photo
Eye Tree”. Emitters are on the passenger side, receivers are on the driver side.

                                                                   Hold

The following is a description of the three pairs of photo eyes on the Pro Airstream™ Dryer.
Entrance Photo Eyes (PLC Terminal X0, Terminal Strip PE1)
The entrance photo eyes are the first pair of eyes to contour the vehicle as it enters the tunnel. This pair
signals input terminal X0 of the Programmable Logic Controller.

Note: See Programmable Logic Controller heading for a description of inputs to terminal X0.
Hold Photo Eyes (PLC Terminal X1, Terminal Strip PE2)
The hold photo eye pair, which are the next to contour the vehicle, are located at the lower center of the
photo eye tree. This pair signals input terminal X1 of the Programmable Logic Controller.

Note: See Programmable Logic Controller heading for a description of inputs to terminal X1.
Exit Photo Eyes (PLC Terminal X2, Terminal Strip PE3)
The exit photo eyes are the last pair to contour the vehicle. Located closest to the exit of the car wash on
the photo eye tree, this pair signals input terminal X2 of the Programmable Logic Controller.

Note: See Programmable Logic Controller heading for a description of inputs to terminal X2.
