AIRSTREAM™ SERIES DRYER

             Electrical Overview

             Pro Airstream™ Dryer
Input 5 - Runaway Proximity Limit
When the Pro Airstream™ Dryer is properly adjusted, the Runaway Proximity Sensor will rarely play a
part in the operation of the top nozzle. However, if the top nozzle travels more slowly in the down
direction than does the cam connected to DC motor, the Runaway Proximity Sensor signal at input
terminal X5 goes away and shuts DC motor off until the runaway proximity switch senses the cam once
again. This causes the Runaway proximity lamp on the Programmable Logic Controller cover to turn off,
which in turn causes output Y2 “Down” to deactivate and the Nozzle Down lamp on the Programmable
Logic Controller cover to also turn off.
If the Runaway Proximity Limit Switch does not sense the cam, the DC controller will shut off until the
runaway is sensed once again. The top nozzle will then move downward until the limit switch once again
makes proximity contact with the cam. The top nozzle will however raise as normal with or without the
influence of the Runaway Proximity Limit Switch.
Note: See Adjustment section for instructions on properly adjusting the top nozzle.

Output 1 - Up Direction Output
When the “UP” direction output Y1 is activated, the “Nozzle Up” lamp on the Programmable Logic
Controller cover is lit. this causes a control signal to be applied to terminal 10 of the DC motor controller.
This signal does not go threw a potentiometer and the up speed will be terminated by the level of the
signal provide by the DC motor controller.
Output 2 - Down Direction Output
When the “Down” direction output Y2 is activated, the “Nozzle Down” lamp on the Programmable Logic
Controller cover is lit. This causes a control signal to be applied to terminal 11 of the DC motor controller.
The strength of the signal being applied to terminal 11 will determine how fast or slow the top nozzle will
                  come down.
                Proximity Sensor
There are three proximity sensor on the Pro Airstream™ Dryer. When metal is placed in front of a
proximity sensor, a signal is supplied to the PLC. When there is no metal placed in front of the proximity
sensor, there is no signal supplied to the PLC. The proximity sensor output is connected to the input of
the Programmable Logic Controller. All proximity sensor names describe their functions. The following
is a description of each sensor.

Note: Proximity switch MUST be properly adjusted prior to operation
Down Limit Proximity Sensor (PLC Terminal X3, Terminal Strip PX4)
The down limit proximity sensor limits the travel of the top nozzles in the down direction to that of the
                  down proximity sensor position.
Upper Limit Proximity Sensor (PLC Terminal X4, Terminal Strip PX5)
The upper limit proximity sensor limits the travel of the top nozzles in the up direction to that of the upper
                  proximity sensor position.
Runaway Proximity Sensor (PLC Terminal X5, Terminal Strip PX6)
The runaway proximity indicates to the Programmable Logic Controller when the cam connected to DC
motor is pulling away or moving faster than the top nozzle.
