QUAD WAVE MITTER
Maintenance
Routine Procedures
Daily
• Start every wash day with a “Test Wash” to insure proper operation of all equipment.
• Inspect the component for clogged nozzles. This can best be done while running the “Test Wash” in the
morning. Nozzles can be cleaned by removing the nozzle bodies and tapping or inserting a thin wire into the
nozzle opening.
• Dump any water that has settled in the air compressor or install a timed pump valve (not supplied).
• Check operation to insure uniform foam is being applied where applicable. This is best checked while running
the “Test Wash” in the morning.
• Check the chemical injection pump(s) to insure that the pump is properly primed if applicable. This is done by
checking the chemical inside of the clear supply tubing. There should be no bubbles or breaks in the fluid (if
applicable).
• Check overall performance for any abnormalities on the first few vehicles washed each day.
• Hose down the component and surrounding area at the end of each wash day. This will remove the majority of
the dirt and other debris that builds up during a wash day.
• Check for water and chemical leaks after equipment is turned off.
Weekly
• Check all mixing tanks periodically for sludge build-up on bottom. If too much sediment is evident, drain tank
and clean (if applicable).
Clean shaft bearings (black urethane plastic Drive Rack and Follower Rack) refer to pages 16
and 17 for disassembly. Pay attention to how the machine is taken apart.
• Loosen the upper locking collar on the drive rack with a 3/16” hex wrench and slide it over against the flat
washer.
• Remove the retaining pin from the upper drive arm on the pitman arm at the gearbox end and remove the
upper drive arm from the pitman arm so that the rack hangs vertically.
• Loosen outside collars using a 5/16” hex wrench.
• Slide outside collars out and away from shaft bearing approximately 6”.
• Slide the drive rack and follower rack off the inner locking collar.
• Clean and inspect locking collars for wear replace if need.
• Clean and inspect shaft bearings (black urethane plastic) for wear replace if need.
Cleaning and replacing Upper drive arms and Lower drive arms.
• Removing the upper drive arms remove retainer pins located at the gearbox end (refer to pages 17 and 26).
• Remove the 1-1/8” drive rack bar bolts.
• Slide upper drive arm off drive rack bar check rack for wear replace if need.
• Clean and inspect upper drive arm bushing replace if needed see pages 29 & 30.
• Removing the lower drive arms remove retainer pins see page 17.
• Slide lower drive arm off studs.
• Clean and check lower drive arm and bushings for wear replace if need see pages 29 and 30.
