Whenever he would say this to his
grandmother, Miss Mazie, but in more round
words, the lady of Indian descent with long
silver hair would always say in a storyteller
like the voice of wisdom “common sense
mek before book sense”. He could
understand that she had seen many years
before him but times have changed and
jumbie can’t roam street again with so much
street light.
Kristof had more than his regular
rounds this morning so he didn’t spend long
pondering his grandmother’s views. Mas
Errol, his grandfather, had foot-his leg was
so swollen that he could barely even shuffle
to the bathroom much less tend the farm.
The pig pen had to be washed out and the
pigs fed, the left side of the farm cut and the
mulching lay on the cabbage patch as well
as watered.
