uptown with Jimmie. They were uptown for a long time at the
garage. Came home. We had lunch, fooled around.
February 22. I was invited to go to a surprise party for “Jo”
Johnson Sunday nite. George came over. I asked him if he cared.
Said we were supposed to go with Jack and Rita to the show. Dad
gave us the car. We bought Jo’s present. Went down to Merrigan’s.
They both got mad at me. I decided not to go. Then G. and I argued
awful for about an hour when we came home. Went home mad.
February 25. George had to stay in. Margaret and I went to
the library and to Matthew’s. George came over in eve. Didn’t do
             anything. Talked. Had fun.

February 26. Got a cute note from George. He walked home
with me. He went to Winchester in eve. Stayed all nite. Margaret
and I went to Church then to Matthew’s. Had fun!

February 27. George didn’t go to school. He was here when
I came home from school. He got mad at me again, came over in
nite. O.K. He read my diary. I got mad. Then we played cards and
danced. Then he got mad because I still write to Joe. He read it in
my diary. Went home without telling me good night again. Oh
gee! I wonder when this is going to let up.

February 28. At school, George would just look at me disgust-
ingly. He wanted me to write him a note. I wouldn’t. He didn’t
write me one either. He walked home from school behind me. I
went uptown to get some new shoes. Jack came over, told Mom
Geo. wouldn’t come. Jack came over and told me that G. was
almost ready to bawl, he wanted to come over so bad. He asked
me if he could. I said, “Yes.” He came over, we made up. He made
me promise not to write to Joe anymore. We went to Merrigan’s.

February 29. George came over in morning and afternoon. We
