Aunt Mag. In evening went to Church with the kids. Went to
milk-shake place. Came home, went to bed.
June 18. Went out to Margaret’s and spent the day. Rode horse-
back. Swell time. In evening went to Church with the kids. Came
home. Went uptown with Jim and Norine.

June 19. Stayed home. Went to hospital with Mom in after-
noon. Aunt Mag went home. In evening Norine and I went to cone
             shop and Hamilton’s.

George makes a surprise return to Jacksonville.
June 20. I went to work at 4. Surprise! George came down at
6:30 with his brother Clarence. I didn’t even know he was coming.
He stayed here till I came home. They sent me out to the kitchen
and there he was. I yelled, “George!” I was never so thrilled in all
my life. He looked darling. I could have cried with joy. Clarence
has a brand new Pontiac and we got to use it to go to the dance.
Was it swell. It seemed like heaven again to be with him. We went
to Merrigan’s and after the dance we went to a place on So. Main.
He’s still swell or sweller than ever. He stayed here all night. He
             left his car here.

June 21. We went to Church at 7:30 in the car. Went out to
his brother’s. He sure is nice. Then G. Elliot and George and I
went swimming. Cold! Fun! Came home. Ate dinner. Then Jim,
Norine, and George and I went to show, Private Number. Grand.
George and I talked and talked. He asked me if I would [shorthand
mark] in the show again. He’s swell. He had to leave at 6. Neither
of us could hardly eat a bite of supper. We went out on the porch
and waited for his brother to come. It was hard to part from each
other, but we did it (barely). I was so lonesome. He said he was
too. I went uptown with Jim and Norine. Charlie Bayless called
me for a date. I refused. Said he’d call again. George doesn’t want
me to go with Charlie and I won’t.
