June 2. Went down to Davison’s with kids in afternoon. In
evening Joe called me up. He came down. We stayed home, took
a little walk around block. I gave Joe his present. He was crazy
about it. Kissed me right in front of Jim and Norine. He X’ed me
             goodbye about 20 times.

June 3. Stayed home in afternoon. Was expecting Joe’s parents.
Didn’t come though. In evening Joey graduated. He introduced
me to his parents, sister, aunt and I already knew his cousin. Very
nice. I almost cried. Joe said goodbye and said he would write.

June 4. Tues. nite lonesome without Joey. Went skating with
             J. Sweeney, M. Hefferman, A. David and G. Hanley. Went to
             Davison’s. Had keen time.

June 5. Went on picnic at park with Beulah, Sweeney, Heffie,
Gloria, C. Priper. Grand time. Good eats. Watched them dance.
             Paul Chumley brought us home.

June 6. Norine, Beulah, and I went uptown. More fun acting
nuts. They got new dresses. In evening Beulah and I went to show,
4 Hours to Kill. Grand, scary. More fun and how!!! [Seven years
later, on this date, June 6, 1942, she gave birth to Bob Fritscher.]

June 7. Went uptown and looked for a job. In evening Gloria
and I went up to Angela’s. We went down to Davison’s. Had fun.
Mildred [Mildred Horn, who became an English teacher and
eventually married Jimmie Day] came home with Jimmie and
             stayed all nite.

June 8. Beulah didn’t go to school. In afternoon we went up-
town. She got a new pair of shoes. We got some ice-cream cones.
Swell time. In evening went riding with Dad and Mom.
