PROJECT SHARING WITH WORKSHARING
Project sharing with Worksharing
In Revit you can work in a team with the help of Worksharing. Worksharing gives access to a
common model through the use of a central file.
In this course will not directly work with Worksharing. Dog, participants wiil be get basic
knowledge of this feature. Therefore, there will be a brief review of the principles by
Worksharing and creation of local files.
The project is shared by saving a Central File on a shared network location. This File will now
be a Central repository for all individual work, which takes place in the project. All components
and elements are gathered here, as well as permissions and ownership of these is
automatically determined from the main file as users work with items or deliberately takes
ownership of workspaces.
When the Central file is created, each employee in the team, creates a local copy of the central
file, and works exclusively in the local copy. Although all work takes place in the local replica –
is the model still associated to the central file. This means that all employees in the team can
have their local copy open and work simultaneously.
It is important to have a basic understanding of how Worksharing works when working with BIM
model.
