Meabh Briscoe
- handler of Bullmastiffs and Whippets.
“After years of spending my spare time just
showing dogs in junior handling in the breed
ring, I have recently developed a completely
different love for a new sport I started training
in; mixed martial arts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu;
and my love for the sport was born. Recently I
have started training more and more and tried
to split my weekends between showing dogs
in a nice suit and grappling and sparring peo-
ple in a gym. I have juggled the life of training
and fighting and showing dogs for over two
years and sadly had to miss a couple of fights
and shows to balance it all out but my love for
both is as strong as ever. During the Covid19
lockdown BJJ training was cancelled, as were
dog shows - I think I was more gutted about
the shows as I had a litter of Bullmastiff who I
was excited to get into the ring. I did howev-
er get to spend lots of time training for both
sports while at home and off school. - Read

While I am sure none of you are having the
summer you planned or expected to have, I
hope you are making the most of it and are look-
ing forward to the time we will all spend together
at shows when everything returns to normal!
Hopefully we won’t be waiting too long!
Stay safe guys!
Bye for now,
Emer
