Britain before the last world war, sadly these
imports have fallen into obscurity.
Mr Lional Hamiltion Renwick imported three red
Miniature Pinscher bitches in 1949 from Holland.
They had been mated and one remained
uncropped so she could be exhibited in this
country once released from quarentine. Sadly,
she died before whelping and the other two
both lost their litters. Mr Hamilton Renwick then
went on to purchase a male, Birling Tommy
V Charlois but left him in Holland to be shown
where he gained both his Dutch and Belgian
crowns. After quarentine, he was mated to
Birling Stockton Kora and as a result a male,
Birling Rocket was retained. Mr Jim Moody
imported a Dutch bitch, Annchen de Huis-
vriend in 1953 who was in whelp but again the
puppies were lost during quarentine. She was
later mated to to Birling Rocket which produced
Rehpin Apollo, Athene and Aurelia and , in a
later litter, Rehpin Beau Brummel who became
the sire of the first Champion bitch, Mrs Molly
Sharpe’s Ch Chaman Minnehaha.
In 1954, Mr and Mrs Fred Curnow (well known
for record breaking ‘Tavey’ Dobermanns)
imported several dogs from America including a
Black and Tan male Delegate of Geddesburg.
In the same year Ernest Dawson (president of
the UK Miniaure Pinscher Club) imported an
American Champion bitch, Am Ch Youngs V
Ericka. 1955 saw Mr Donald Becker (known
for Dondeau Schnauzers) and Mrs Kay Wilton
import a Blue and Tan bitch called Schpin
Bigris of unknown pedigree. She had previously
