Breed Club
Promoting our wonderful British breed since 1937
S ince its humble beginning in 1937 The
British Manchester Terrier club has
evolved with the changing times becoming
a diverse, informative and inclusive
group with a plethora of experience and
knowledge within its membership.
Its main goal is to promote a healthy, happy
breed, with a dedicated committee and active
health committee, always available to advise
and assist its members in all aspects of the MT
world. We also have the BMTC rehoming page
on FB dedicated to helping those dogs and
owners who may need some help.
We aim to hold 3 club shows each year
(restrictions allowing) for all levels of experience,
with people there to guide and point you in the
right direction. A Fun weekend is organized for
this July, a fabulous event with a day dedicated
to MT fun with lots of have a go events for all
to try and a show on the Sunday. There’s a
social meal, competitions and a auction on the
Saturday evening and the weekend is closed
with a local mooch on the Sunday. Details for all
events are available, as they are announced, on
the BMTC website and FB pages.

From a club promoting predominately the show
scene, in which we have seen success in group
placings at championship shows in the last
decade, to the new activities continually being
introduced. Over the last 5 years we have had
members taking part and exceling in all aspects
of the sporting dog world. Agility, obeediance,
obreediance, flyball, the newest disciplines of
canicross and scent work are all part of many
owners’ schedules. Setting fine examples of
just how versatile and trainable our breed can
be when the time and effort is put in by both dog
and owner, a very rewarding combination!
Another wonderful way we promote the breed
is by providing breed stands at the various
game fairs and events held throughout the
year, including Discover dogs at Crufts. These
are a fantastic way for the public to get to see
our breed up and personal and ask questions
of the owners. At most of these events our
