I have been involved in terriers all my life,
following on in my fathers footsteps who bred
and worked his own strain of working terriers.
These were my first introduction to the world
of terriers, in the 70’s when in my teens, I was
fortunate to own my first working terrier. As
we are from the countryside, it was a normal
pastime to hunt in various formats. Through the
70’s & 80’s I worked my dogs (mainly working
Lakeland types), showed at working terrier
shows and bred a few litters. I was also involved
heavily with working, breeding and showing
ferrets another hobby I did very well in. I also
got the opportunity to judge at ferret shows at
local agricultural shows. Other introductions to
showing were through fancy bantams and a
small involvement in my grandads cage birds.
I decided when money permitted that I would
like a ‘proper’ dog, a KC registered one, so
sought to procure a pedigree Lakeland terrier. A
Laroc Lakeland came in to my life, via the well
known breeder, exhibitor and judge Mr Brian
Rodgers, of the Laroc Kennels fame. This dog
