               Operating in your God-given gift

               By: Dr. Z. Makhaye

 Your purpose in life is that which gives you a reason for living, the reason why God

                       put you on earth.
 Your purpose will be unique to you, based on Gods personalized plan for you.

               Know yourself:

 To develop your own, unique path successfully, you need to understand the
environment in which you live and fellowship and know how to link yourself to it

 In linking yourself into the environment or opportunity structure, decision-making

skills are essential in order to process the information you will use to develop your
                       path

 As the world itself is changing very rapidly, you will also need transition skills and
attitudes to cope with change and adapt successfully.

               Self-Awareness:

 Since careers are person-centred, the first step in developing your career is to know
yourself. Until you know your strengths and weaknesses, interests and values are, you

will not know what you can become.

 Self-awareness means knowing your potential: Abilities; Interests; Values; Influence
               Personality Types

According to John Holland, a respected researcher, there are 6 types of people that can be
highlighted when looking at career paths:

Realistic people- They are practical, down to earth and enjoy hard work

Suitable occupations: Mechanical engineer, plumber, carpenter, farmer, surveyor, geologists,
               landscaper, etc.

Investigative people- They have an enquiring mind, are fact finding and problem solvers.
