TO
THE ATTENDEES AT THE
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES LETTER from the SECRETARY of EDUCATION
TITLE III ADMINISTRATORS, INC.
2018 TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WORKSHOP
Jackson, Mississippi
June 16-21, 2019
Greetings to the attendees at the 2019 Technical Assistance Workshop of the National
Association of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Title III Administrators, Inc.
Historically Black Colleges and Universities are a vital pa,1 of our nation's higher
education system. You open doors to higher education for many students who are the first
in their family to go to college. You support your students in finding their life's calling
and help set them on the path to achieving their dreams. And you are world-class
incubators of talent in countless fields vital to growing our economy and strengthening
our communities.
Convenings such as this technical assistance workshop provide valuable opportunities to
learn from one another and to hear from expe11s about strategies for navigating future
challenges. Throughout your time together, I encourage you to remember our shared goal
to educate and prepare our nation's students for lifelong success. As Dr. Mary McLeod
Bethune wrote, "They must not be discouraged from aspiring toward greatness, for they
are to be the leaders of tomorrow."
Please accept my best wishes for this workshop and for your future successes.
