Flats upon flats rise to the sky
The monotony hurts the eye;
From pigeon holes peep out puppets in air
Till they vanish into night’s electricity glare!
Fashion preys on the fancy of the flesh
Cream and enamel to set aflush
Mylady’s face and painted lips
A performing model to finger tips!
When the rainGod drains the monsoon sky
And under the deluge thoroughfares lie
When juvenile cars are trapped in the floods
And roadside kids make a couple of quids.
Why worry o’er Dharavi slums and Colaba Shoeshines?
On the milky way of Marine Lines;
The twinkling lights on Malabar Hill
Wait as though to receive some celestial arrival!
Are not Sheraton and the Taj
Souvenirs of the Raj?
Will Hope for allfade away?
Is Mubai not India’s Gate way?
, Cold Dinner
What bizarre horrors from culinary crime doth arise,
From o’er done meat to under cook’d rice!
