In the Caribbean, the hurricane season runs from June to
the end of November. History will record 2017 as the year
of serious disaster, devastation, damage, and destruction.
Several islands in the Caribbean have been affected with high
winds and catastrophic flooding from hurricanes Irma and —Clayton Martin
Maria. Much damage has been done in Anguilla, Antigua Caribbean General Presbyter
and Barbuda, Bahamas-family islands, British and US Virgin
Islands, Dominica, Montserrat, Turks and Caicos, St. Maarten,
and St. Martin.
Imagine the following taking place in your community: the house demolished, mud over your personal belonging, limited
loss of lives, vehicles destroyed, tremendous loss of buildings, food supply, no electricity, water supply and communication
schools, churches; your roof ripped off and in some cases, affected, debris to be cleared. Long-time members of some
communities reported that hurricane season 2017 brought
unprecedented destruction.
People in the islands are thankful to God for His mercies,
grateful for the help being given by others. During such a
disaster, love is demonstrated in practical ways as people
who care have been willing to give, to share what is left of
their homes and other possessions. There have been many
challenges and the recovery effort is one which will undoubtedly
be costly and time consuming. With the help of the Lord and
the support of others, we will rise and build again.
