Eurasian lynx occur along the entire Jura
Mountain range, from the southwest in France
to the northeast in Switzerland. They also
currently inhabit the northwestern, central and
northeastern Swiss Alps. The lynx population in
the Jura Mountains, which is expanding, contains
about 150 individuals. Here a male, named B158
by carnivore research project KORA, roams his
territory in the rain. The average home range
2
of a male is approximately 150km .

Eurasian lynx were reintroduced to Switzerland in the
1970s and established populations in the Alps and the Jura
Mountains. Laurent Geslin has spent 10 years photographing
these proficient hunters as they roam and define their
territories, gradually expanding their range.
