Session proposals for the 2019 AAAS At thisAnnual Meeting,we lookforways science is bringing together people,
ideas,and solutions from across real and artifcial borders,disciplines,sectors,

Deadline for submission: April 19, 2018 ideologies,and traditions.Howcan scienceworking across boundaries improve
its ability to fnd solutions to the pressing problems of our age? How can
scientists,wherever theywork,more efectivelyengagewith the broader society?

to science and scientifc careers?At the international level,science diplomacy
builds bridges between countries.Howcanwe encourage more of this,and utilize
science as a common ground more locally as well? Can science contribute

diferent populations and demographics,such as urban and rural communities?
What boundaries most impede your research or your career? While
acknowledging that some boundaries are useful and necessary,the meeting
theme considers howresearch can be applied to problematic separations in
theworld,and howunhelpful boundarieswithin science are being addressed.
