Chapter 7 Chapter 6 The 10 PREVENTABLE Killer Diseases
Obesity, Influenza & Pneumonia
In this Chapter, we’ll outline the top 10 preventable killers that are Obesity-related. We set the limit at any
killer that is over 50,000 Americans per year – but there are more that are Obesity-related.
As a previously obese person, I was casually aware of the following diseases but really didn’t care as none of
this was going to happen to me. Because, you know, it only happens to somebody else. All 1.6 million of them
45 years later, I have now seen HUNDREDS of my friends, relatives and business associates die from one or
more of the following due to their obesity. Most of them knew how easily I had lost my weight but never
connected the dots of the following killers to their obesity . . . and THEY ALL died early because of it.
Therefore, as strenuously requested by my wife, a registered nurse, I have written this book with each one of
them in my mind hoping to give you as much clarity on the problems you face, or will face, with obesity.
Remembering you never start out obese – it creeps up on you slowly over many years and strikes when least
expected – just like lightning or a car accident, then it’s usually too late. Please Start Your Weight Loss Now.
Dr. Seema Jain and Dr. Sandra S. Chaves reported in Clinical Infectious Diseases that: “data from many
countries around the world indicated that obese persons were disproportionally represented among
influenza-associated hospitalizations and deaths.”
“Furthermore, obese patients hospitalized with 2009 H1N1 infection admitted to ICU had longer duration of
mechanical ventilation, as well as ICU and hospital length of stay compared with those who were not obese.”
