The Whitecourt Hometown Heroes Airshow is scheduled every second year and 2018 marked the airshow’s
th
10 anniversary. While it may not have the publicity of large airshows, it featured some exiting Canadian
Armed Forces and civilian performances. This year’s airshow was held on July 28 and 29.
The show opener was by the Canadian Forces Parachute Team, the Skyhawks, jumping from a C-130H
Hercules aircraft. When the first jumpers descended from a C-130 Hercules aircraft, they displayed a large
American and Canadian flag, as the National Anthems of both countries was played. Other jumpers followed,
performing spectacular aerobatic parachute formations.
