Virtual Exhibits - Enhancement of Museum Utilization & Visitor Experience
● The museums are dealing with a common subject, but pieces of the collection are dispersed geographically
across the country. Yellow Wings to Victory will construct a common platform to link together the
expertise, resources, stories and collections in one common web site.
● CAPA members will have access to on-line interactives to enhance their web presence and for use as
educational resources. These resources will be cloud-based so that members do not need to maintain
their own technology and support for them. Members can link to them from their own websites
● The museum partners can utilize the web docs and video developed during the Yellow Wings To Victory
production for in-museum experience enhancements, audio/ smartphone/ tablet technology guides, and
to supplement exhibits/displays.
Engaging the Public: Virtual Exhibits for Use by Aviation Heritage Museums
Museums visitors will be greeted upon entry by a freestanding display panel which will guide them to the
exhibit interactives around the museum. The interactives can be accessed by smartphone, tablet or laptop to
supplement exhibits and displays. Visitor will be greeted by a pilot instructor and student pilot (The Yellow
Wings to Victory website will also open with the same sequence.)
Digital Interactives
Earn Your Wings
Educational simulation which will allow the visitor to experience flying a training aircraft and how the lessons
learned in training would be applied in aerial combat situations. These skills taught to young pilot trainees
helped defeat the Luftwaffe. We will also demonstrate current RCAF training and compare it to the BCATP
through interviews with veteran pilots, historians and modern-day pilots of these historic aircraft. We will
virtually open the actual training manuals from the Plan and the lessons will come alive from the pages.
We will develop a Virtual Reality training experience for use in the museum setting. The visitor will click on the
“pinpoints” on the virtual airplane or museum display which will expand to demonstrate the workings of the
selected feature of the aircraft.
Virtual reality technology will be used to recreate a 360 flight experience in a BCATP training aircraft.
Women in the BCATP & RCAF - Web Doc
We take a tour of CFB Trenton meeting women who serve in various RCAF and civilian roles. Each will describe
their current day role and then describe the evolution of their predecessor’s role back to the time of the WW2
BCATP. From their perspective they will describe the evolution of women to other parts of the airforce and
aircraft industry. The description will include occupations in aircraft manufacturing, refueling, repairing,
maintaining the planes and showcase the expanded role women play now, in the cockpit, in engineering,
training, and command roles.
These web docs are intended to inspire young girls to pursue studies in science and math leading to careers in
aviation and engineering.
