Busa Wangdue Goenpa Dorji
Lingpa Buddhist College
with monk education was
started in 2000 by the then
lineage holder Lam
Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche,
with initial setup support
from His Eminence Gangteng
Trulku Rinpoche. The first
batch of 30 monks was
enrolled with the start of
monk education and with
the visit and blessing of Ven.
Khenchen Pema Sherab of
Namdroling Monastery in
Mysore, India. Ven. Khenchen conferred Gyatshul Domba to all the monks during the
initiation.
3.1 Monastic Education System under the Foundation
The monastic education system under Dorji Lingpa foundation is 6 (six) years of elementary
school under various monastic schools, and another 9 (nine) years (Level 1 – 9) of higher
education under Buddhist College. After the completion of Buddhist College education, the
monk is required to take up responsibility to support the monastic setup and school taking up
the role of teacher, administrator and secretary and program management work. After that the
monk will need to undergo three-years retreat. After the completion of retreat and successful
service for some required year, he can be offered title of Khenpo (Chief Abbot).
3.2 Busa Wangdue Goenpa Buddhist College
Under Dorji Lingpa College Project, the plan to relocate the Busa Wangdue Goenpa
Buddhist College to Tshamkha
Pharkha, which is a blessed
location where Second lineage
Abbot - Drubthob Ugyen Dorji
Rinpoche spent his life dedicated
to meditation, is underway. The
college project was
conceptualized and started in
2018 and is planned to be
completed by December 2022.
The college project approval was
accorded by His Majesty the 5 King of Bhutan as a special case to promote Dorji Lingpa
th
linage, culture, tradition and dharma in the country.
The project is planned under three phases as follows:
