through these processes. The field of gerontology recognizes that older adults have
distinct characteristics that can be differentiated from earlier stages of adulthood.
Whether working in micro or macro settings, the primary goal of the social worker
is to address the specific challenges of the aging process by promoting independence,
autonomy, and dignity in later life. Community health approaches may also become
attractive models for more economically developed nation.
By showcasing practical examplethrough this intervention, identifying initiatives by
MAGICS NGO, and making available key resources about healthy ageing, let’s
hope that it builds awareness of the steps required to make healthy ageing a reality.
These multidimensional approaches have to be appreciated by those who wish to
support, strengthen and celebrate with the senior citizens of our country.
