Then he turns and looks at his dad. “She was okay after the surgery, right?”
“Yes, the surgery was successful. She lived many years after that, thanks to Dr. Williams.”
Dr. Drew turns to Jaxon’s dad. “Thank you for introducing us. We don’t get talked about
very much. It is our hope that our stories will inspire young people to get into medicine.” He
looks directly at Jaxon and winks.
Jaxon walks over and stands in front of Dr. Drew, and he looks up at him admiringly. “This
has been the best day of my life, meeting and talking to all of you. I feel like, I don’t know, I’m in
dreamland or something. I can’t wait to share what I’m learning with my cousins, Kevin and

               Madison, and with my class.”
“That would be great. Maybe one of them will think about getting into medicine, too,” Dr.
               Williams says smiling.
Then, the fine doctors disappear. Poof! Just like that.
Jaxon’s dad looks at Jaxon with a disturbed expression on his face. “Do you ever get used to
               that?”
