                  RISE

                                       when… all women have access

                                                            to comprehensive, quality

                                                          health care services.

All people have a right to comprehensive, affordable, and quality health care. However, for women and girls around
the world, especially those living in remote and rural areas, the availability and accessibility of health care remains
a challenge. As stated by Women Deliver, when you provide girls and women with access to health throughout their
lives, they deliver a healthier and wealthier world.

Together Women Rise works with our grantee partners to build sustainable, accessible health systems to reach
marginalized women and girls. For example, in 2021:

            • With The BARKA Foundation, we funded a sustainable, cost-effective menstrual hygiene solution (menstrual
cups) that is ideal for low-income, water-stressed countries like Burkina Faso.

            • We supported TERREWODE’s reintegration program for obstetric fistula survivors in Uganda, helping women
to heal, restore their dignity and purpose, and empower them to meaningfully participate
             in their communities once again.

        Improving Maternal and Newborn Health

Partnering with Noora Health, Together Women Rise is helping reduce the
incidence of preventable newborn complications and mortality in India. Through
Noora’s “Care Companion Program,” new mothers and family members are
trained in the hospital how to improve health outcomes through exclusive
breastfeeding, skin-to-skin thermal care, hand hygiene, umbilical cord care,
postpartum maternal diet, and identifying and responding to warning signs in
        newborns and mothers.

Post-discharge, families have access to Noora’s WhatsApp tool, which allows them to ask
questions and receive support from medical practitioners, a vital service when accessing a doctor or hospital is
challenging and in addressing needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
8“ When I came back home, there was nobody to help me or tell me when my breast milk would

start. I would ask the team for support on WhatsApp and get quick responses. I followed
their advice religiously and Ishaan is healthy and happy.” -Taslima
