Preventing Child Rape in Cameroon

In Cameroon, it is estimated that 40 percent
of school-age children are sexually abused.
The greatest concern is the high and growing
incidence of child rape. Together Women Rise
partnered with Global Pearls to develop Child
Rape Prevention Camps and Girls Against
Rape Clubs which focus on increasing girls’
awareness, education, healing, and self-
confidence. Using traditional Cameroonian
sports and songs, the camps impart lessons
about rape and allow girls to tell their stories
and become ambassadors to bring about cultural
change in their schools and communities.
