EVERGREEN
PARK CHICAGO
CHAP TER
MONDAY, January 15, 2018, was a
cold, snowy, messy day. It was also a
Day of Service. The ladies and teens of
the Evergreen Park Chicago Chapter in
conjunction with City Year huddled together
at Gale Elementary School. We painted
murals and signage outside of classrooms.
Our hearts were warmed knowing that we
would bring a smile to the children of Gale
Elementary School where over fifty cultures
are represented and close to fifty languages
are spoken in the homes of the students.
FALL NEWS
ON Sunday, October 15, the Ladies of the Evergreen
Park Chicago Chapter hosted the third annual” Fight
Like A Girl” Football Fundraiser. This year was especially
important as our very own Lady Anjela was in a knock
out battle with cancer. We honored four amazing
individuals that have acted as caregivers to loved ones
“fighting” cancer. We were able to watch “Da Bears”, eat,
laugh, cry, and shop. NCNW and NAACP had tables for
a membership drive; Aunt Martha's Illinois Breast and
Cervical Cancer Program presented by Leslie Bailey,
RN MSN offered information and a means for free
screenings. Erika Bracey, the “Real Brave Chick” and
founder of Different Shades of Pink was on hand to
surprise honorees, their families and guest with tokens
of kindness and love! The topper of this wonderful
event was the partnership with Kohl’s who paid us to
volunteer! A wonderful time was had by all!
