                   49. THE SYMBOL OF RADVILIŠKIS – A STEAM LOCOMOTIVE
Since 2004, the attraction near Radvi-
liškis railway station has been its trophy
         – a steam locomotive built in Berlin in
1944, which is entered in the Cultural
Heritage Register due to its historical,
         technical, and technological value. The
         relic of Radviliškis locomotive depot,
belonging to the so-called T series, is
the only one of this kind, which has
survived in our country. Today, it is an
eloquent symbol of the town consi-
         dered the capital of railwaymen.

          Burbiškis manor is like a
          miniature of the Netherlands.

                                      50. BURBIŠKIS MANOR
Burbiškis manor has been known since
the 16th century. In 1819, the manor was
acquired by the Baženskiai family who
built a peculiar manor of Romanticism,
         Historicism and Neo-Gothic styles,
reminding of a fortress. The new ow-
ners have also created an impressive,
         scenic 28-hectare park distinguishing
         itself by exceptional small architecture,
         ponds, tree-lined alleys, viewpoints,
and islands. The park is adorned with
the sculptures of Vytautas the Gre-
at and Adam Mickiewicz, for the first
time created in Lithuania by Kazimieras
         Ulianskis.
         The museum established in Burbiškis
manor aims to restore as accurate pic-
ture of the past as possible, conveying
the old culture of manors. The spaces
of the manor farmstead house the ex-
positions of the manor history, carria-
         ges, old technical equipment, house-
         plants, and tulips.
Every spring, the manor hosts the tu-
         lip flowering festivals well-known thro-
         ughout Lithuania and abroad, poetry
         events “Poezijos pavasaris”, chamber
         concerts, and exhibitions.
